We are the data controller for the personal data described below. If you have any question about this policy or about your data, write to us at the e-mail address above.
What we collect and why
1. Booking information
When you reserve a car we collect your name, e-mail address, phone number, pick-up and drop-off location, rental dates and, where you choose delivery, the hotel or street address where the car should be delivered or collected.
We need this to prepare the rental agreement, hand over the vehicle and contact you about your booking. The legal basis is performance of a contract with you.
2. Passport copy — Armenia border crossing
If you select the option to cross the border into Armenia, we ask you to upload a copy of your passport. This is required because the vehicle must be registered for cross-border travel and the border authorities require the driver’s identity document.
A passport copy is sensitive information and we treat it accordingly:
- It is uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- It is stored under a randomly generated file name that cannot be guessed.
- It is used only to prepare the cross-border documentation for your rental.
- It is deleted within 90 days after your rental ends, unless a longer period is required by law or by an open insurance or legal claim.
You are never required to upload a passport unless you choose the Armenia border crossing option.
3. Payment information
Card and PayPal payments are processed by our payment providers. We never see or store your full card number. We receive only confirmation that a payment succeeded, together with the amount and the order reference.
4. Website usage data
We use Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand how visitors find and use the site. These services set cookies and may collect your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view and how you arrived at the site.
The legal basis is your consent, which you give through the cookie banner. You can withdraw it at any time.
5. Advertising and remarketing
We advertise this website through Google Ads. With your consent we also use remarketing: if you visit the site and do not finish a booking, you may later see our adverts on Google Search, on YouTube and on other websites in Google’s network.
To make this work, Google and we use cookies and similar identifiers to build anonymous audience lists in Google Analytics, which are shared with our Google Ads account. We do not send your name, e-mail address, phone number or any passport data to Google for advertising, and we never build advertising audiences from passport uploads.
Our Google Analytics property also makes Google Signals and other advertising features available. Where these are active, a visit may be associated with a Google account that has personalised advertising switched on. This only happens if you have accepted marketing cookies.
We operate a linked YouTube channel. Viewing data from our YouTube videos may be used in the same way, under the same consent.
The legal basis for all of the above is your consent, which you give through the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Payment providers — to process your payment.
- Google (Analytics, Ads, Tag Manager) — for website statistics and advertising measurement, where you have consented.
- Our hosting provider — which stores the website and its database on our behalf.
- Authorities — where we are required to by law, for example in the event of a traffic violation or an accident.
How long we keep your data
- Booking and rental-agreement records: as long as required by Georgian accounting and tax law.
- Passport copies: deleted within 90 days of the end of the rental, as described above.
- Analytics data: according to the retention period set in Google Analytics.
- E-mail correspondence: up to 2 years, unless it relates to an open claim.
Your rights
You may ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you,
- correct data that is wrong or out of date,
- delete your data, where we are not legally required to keep it,
- stop using your data for marketing,
- provide your data in a portable format.
Write to carrentdeme@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU or the UK and you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to your national data-protection authority.
Cookies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary for the website and the booking basket to work, and — only with your consent — statistics and marketing cookies from Google Analytics and Google Ads. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer.
How to stop personalised advertising
You can switch this off at any time, in any of these ways:
- Change your choice through the cookie settings link in the footer of this site.
- Turn off personalised Google adverts at myadcenter.google.com.
- Block Google Analytics entirely with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
- Opt out of interest-based advertising from many vendors at youronlinechoices.com.
- Write to carrentdeme@gmail.com and ask us to stop using your data for marketing.
Switching off personalised advertising does not stop you seeing adverts — it only stops them being tailored to you, and it does not affect your ability to book a car.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS, uploads are validated by file type and size, and access to the administration area is restricted. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable technical measures to protect your data.
Children
Our service is intended for drivers aged 23 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
